Toeplitz operators on the Hardy spaces have been studied under different assumptions for many years. The paper under review is a survey dealing with the Toeplitz operators appearing in complex and symplectic geometry. The problems here come often from mathematical physics. There are overviewed some recent results in this area. The list of references consists of 55 items.
