Summary: We show that the existence of a transmutation between two self-adjoint operators \(L_{1}\) and \(L_{2}\) is equivalent to the existence of an interpolation operator in the spectral variable. This equivalence helps construct a transmutation operator between abstract self-adjoint operators.
