The author studies the homogenization problem for the Cauchy problem for a parabolic linear system and obtains the convergence in \(L^2(\mathbb R^d)\) (for every \(t>0\)) to the solution of the limit problem. An order sharp estimate of the distance in \(L^2(\mathbb R^d)\) to the solution of the limit problem in terms of the \(L^2(\mathbb R^d)\)-norm of the initial value is also given.
