Optimal piecewise-linear approximation algorithms for complex dependencies (Q2487546)

Starting from five cited references the authors sketch methods to express the dependence of an output on a vector of several input parameters. The underlying idea is to partition the space of the input parameters into domains, in each of which a function that is complicated in the whole space is approximated by a linear function. If the authors had been more thorough and rigorous in their description, the usefulness of this paper would have increased substantially.
