For non-summable interactions, infinite-volume Gibbs states and the thermodynamic limit are not defined. The authors study non-summable systems by using a simpler approach of truncation and observe that for any temperature, the measures \(\mu_{\phi N}\) becomes sensitive to boundary conditions once \(N\) is large enough (but finite). They show that this scenario occurs for the ferromagnetic Potts models on \(\mathbb Z^d, d\geq 2\) for the various families of non-summable potentials and prove existence of phase transition.
