The problem of a particle in a linear or harmonic potential is discussed in the context of the generalization of the de Broglie-Bohm formulation of quantum mechanics which can be obtained according to the prescriptions of the extended phase space formalism proposed in [\textit{Y. Sobouti} and \textit{S. Nasiri}, ``A phase space formulation of quantum state functions'', Int. J. Mod. Phys. B 7, 3255--3272 (1993)]. It is seen that the resulting quantum potential terms may be removed by means of a simple canonical transformation in the extended phase space. This canonical transformation is the one that allows to obtain the Wigner approach from the extended phase space formalism.
