Lagrange interpolation by splines in one or two dimensions is a particularly useful type of approximation. In this article, Lagrange interpolation sets for bivariate splines are constructed. This is done by considering first piecewise-algebraic curves in two dimensions. In both cases, attention is focussed on bivariate splines on cross-cut partitions.
