The inf-sup condition for low order elements on anisotropic meshes (Q2504785)

The authors introduce a model problem and study approximations results. The model problem is the Stokes problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions in a two dimensional domain. An admissible mesh of elements and proper finite element spaces are constructed. Several pairs of finite element spaces are known for isotropic meshes. The authors investigate a conforming lower order pair of triangular and quadrilateral finite elements.
