Newton has stated ``Just as the order of the parts of time is unchangeable, so too, is the order of parts of space'', because ``in themselves and in their own nature'' they have individuality only through ``an order of position''. The author considers this argument as a metaphysical one and invalid to support the statement. He also compares Newton's view to that of Leibniz's understanding of space as an order or relation, and argues that in spite of their apparent similarity they are different.
