The authors study the short-pulse equation (SPE) \[ u_{xt} = u + \frac{1}{6}(u^3)_{xx}, \] which models the propagation of ultra-short optical pulses in cubic nonlinear media. The authors obtain some Jacobi elliptic function solutions of SPE, using direct symbolic computations. Plots of these solutions are presented.
