The superstability problem for the variant \[ f(xy)+f(\sigma (y)x)=2f(x)g(y) \] of Wilson's functional equation is investigated. As a consequence, the superstability of the Pexider-type functional equation \[ f(xy)+f(\sigma (y)x)=2g(x)h(y) \] on any group is obtained.
