In a queueing system with two independent Poisson arrival streams and two exponential servers, it is assumed that a customer, on arrival, can be rerouted to the other server. Under different rerouting policies, the authors obtain regions, in terms of the parameters, in which the ergodicity property is preserved. As a main tool, necessary and sufficient conditions for ergodicity to hold are considered, using Lyapunov functions.
