Erratum: On non-inflectional solutions of non-uniform elasticae (Q2564449)

In our paper [ibid. 28, No. 6, 677-685 (1993; Zbl 0793.73036)], the ``only if'' part of Theorem 1 of the above paper is incorrect as stated. One can produce examples of beams for which \(\gamma(s)\) has a non-isolated interior maximum and which admit non-inflectional twin loop solutions. Also, the word ``isolated'' should be removed from Theorem 1. There are two typographical errors in the inequalities (2.5), which should read: \[ V(l/2)-V(0)\geq {1\over 2}\int_0^{l/2} \gamma'(s)(\sqrt {P}\sin \alpha_1)^2s^2ds\geq \Biggl[{\Gamma P\over 2}\sin^2\alpha_1({s^3\over 3})\Biggr]_\varepsilon^{l/2}. \] We thank H.
