The article falls into two parts. After mentioning earlier translation suggestions which came to nothing, the first part concentrates on the successful three translations of the \textit{Elements} into Czech: 1) Josef Smolik's translation of 15 books, made from Gregory's and Camerer's ``pre-critical'' Greek texts. It was submitted in 1887 to the Royal Czech Society of Sciences, which refused to publish the text as it was, and which did not follow up upon its own idea (accepted by Smolnik) to leave revision to a larger group of mathematicians and historians. The author has rediscovered Smolnik's forgotten manuscript. 2) František Fabinger's translation of \textit{Book I}, made from the Heiberg edition and published in 1903 in the annual report of a secondary school. 3) František Servit's translation of the 13 Euclidean books, also based on the Heiberg edition, appearing in the annual reports of another secondary school in the years 1903-1907 and republished in a single volume in 1907 by the Union of Czech Mathematicians. The second part is bibliographic, listing the 10 manuscripts and all printed editions (including translations into any language) possessed by public libraries in the Czech Republic.
