The authors present an interesting mechanical problem, having one degree of freedom, for which there are two distinct pairs of axes of precession and figure. The conditions guaranteeing the existence of a unique precession axis and a unique body axis are given. The paper is interesting from the point of view of rigid body mechanics. It may have importance in the elastic rod theory, via Kirchhoff analogy.
