    This paper is the first part of a generalization of the proof of the existence of the thermodynamic limit for electrons and nuclei interacting via a Coulomb potential. The authors aim is to present an analogous result in the context of non-relativistic QED. This allows to take into account the magnetic interactions between electrons and nuclei where the magnetic field is described in terms of a quantized field. In the present paper the authors prove the existence of a lower bound to the free energy that is proportional to the number of particles.
