The author investigates the behaviour of a class of cellular automata where the state of each cell is an element of a ring of modular integers. The spatio-temporal dynamics is described by a \(\mathbb{Z}^2\)-action, generated by the shift map and by an additive automata rule. The author proves that such an action is ergodic and mixing.
