al-Kūhī's revision of Book I of Euclid's \textit{Elements} (Q2576313)

An edition, from a single surviving ms., of an exposition of the first book of the \textit{Elements} by the 10th Cent. geometer Abu Sahl al-Kūhī, with a list of the corrections made by the editors and a full commented translation. The theorems of the book are rearranged and all constructions eliminated. Remarkable are a proof of the fourth postulate and a proof of the Pythagorean theorem very close to those based on the binomial formula.
