The effect of link compliance on input torque requirements has been studied extensively in the case of compliant four-bar crank-rocker mechanism, where two of the oscillating joints are replaced with flexural pivots. This modifies the dynamics of the mechanism, and the change is studied by introducing the compliance locally in the form of flexural hinges at the two oscillating revolute joints of the four-bar crank-rocker.
