    Von einem Punkte \(O\) aus laufen Strahlen zu Punkten \(P_i\)(\(i = 1\), 2, 3,\dots) einer Geraden. Von diesen besitzen aufeinanderfolgende stets den gleichen Abstand \(h\). \(d_i\) sei der Abstand des Punktes \(P_i\) vom Punkte \textit{O. P. Buzano} hat die Aufgabe gelöst, \(d_p\) aus \(d_1\), \(d_2\), \(d_3\) zu bestimmen (vgl. Boll. Un. mat. Ital. (2) 2 (1940), 366-368; F. d. M. 66, 576). Verf. gibt ein einfaches Verfahren an, das gleiche Ergebnis zu finden, indem er die Beziehung benutzt, die eine Mittellinie eines Dreiecks als Funktion der drei Seiten des Dreiecks ausdrückt: \(d_{m+4}^2=d_{m+1}^2-3d_{m+2}^2+3d_{m+3}^2\). Auf zwei ver\-schiedene Weisen leitet er hieraus die gesuchte Formel ab: \[ d_p^2=\frac{(p-2)(p-3)}2d_1^2-\{(p-2)^2-1\}d_2^2+\frac{(p-1)(p-2)}2d_3^2. \]
