Es wird dargelegt, daß die Auswahl eines geeigneten Aktienindex von dem Zweck abhängt, der mit dem Index verfolgt werden soll. Der wahre Zweck eines Maßstabes für den Wert von Aktien sei nicht, die Aktienpreise zu ermessen, sondern die Geldanlagemöglichkeiten abzuwägen. Von den verschiedenen Formeln für den Aktienindex wird die Kettenformel als die beste bezeichnet.
