\textit{James} bewies (Math. Ann. 109 (1933), 196-199; F. d. M. \(59_{\text{I}}\), 177. In diesem Referat ist ein Druckfehler zu berichtigen: die Pyramidalzahlen haben die unten an\-gegebene Gestalt), daß jede hinreichend große positive ganze Zahl sich als Summe von höchstens acht Pyramidalzahlen \[ \frac{x^3-x}6\qquad(x=1,2,3,\dots) \] darstellen läßt. \textit{Dickson} zeigte (Trans. Amer. math. Soc. 36 (1934), 1-12; F. d. M. \(60_{\text{I}}\), 137-138), daß jede hinreichend große ganze Zahl sich als Summe von neun Werten von \[ f(x)=x+\frac{x^3-x}6\,\varepsilon \] für ganzzahlige Werte \(x\geqq0\) darstellen läßt, wenn \((\varepsilon, 3) = 1\). Verf. zeigt, daß man für \(\varepsilon = 1\), also für \[ f(x)=\frac{x^3+5x}6 \] bereits mit acht Werten auskommt. Zum Beweis wird eine von \textit{Landau} herrührende Methode verwendet (Math.
