\textit{Dickson} bewies (Trans. Amer. math. Soc. 36 (1934), 1-12; F. d. M. \(60_{\text{I}}\), 137-138), daß jede hinreichend große ganze Zahl sich als Summe von neun Werten von \[ f(x)=x+\frac{x^3-x}6\,\varepsilon,\quad(\varepsilon,3)=1, \tag{1} \] für ganzzahlige Werte \(x\geqq0\) darstellen läßt. \textit{Yang} zeigte (Bull. Amer. math. Soc. 34 (1928), 412; F. d. M. 54, 187 (JFM 54.0187.*); Sci. Rep. Tsing Hua Univ. A 1 (1931), 19; F. d. M. \(57_{\text{II}}\)), daß \textit{jede} ganze Zahl sich als Summe von neun Pyramidalzahlen \[ \frac{x^3-x}6\qquad(x=1,2,3,\dots) \tag{2} \] darstellen läßt. Verf. beweist: Läßt man auch negative Argumente \(x\) zu, so läßt sich \textit{jede} ganze Zahl als Summe von \textit{sieben} Werten von (1) bzw. (2) darstellen.
