The authors investigate some boundary value problems of Sturm-Liouville type associated to third-order differential equations on a half-line.NEWLINENEWLINEAn existence result is obtained under a one-sided Nagumo-type condition on the nonlinearity. The approach is based on fixed point theory and lower and upper solutions method. This technique allows to obtain estimates on the first and second derivatives of the solution as well.NEWLINENEWLINEThe result is illustrated in a concrete example, in which the nonlinearity does not satisfy a two-sided Nagumo condition.
