Stellt man die Lösungen der Gleichung \(x^2 - Dy^2 = 1\) in der Form \[ x = \cosh \, \psi, \quad y \sqrt{D} = \sinh \, \psi \] dar, so folgt die Einzigkeit der Fundamentallösung aus der Nichtexistenz doppelperiodischer Funktionen eines reellen Argumentes.
