Verf. (Philos. Transactions 216 (1916), 279-348; 217 (1916-1917), 115-197; F. d. M. 46, 1203 (JFM 46.1203.*)) und \textit{Enskog} (1921; F. d. M. 48, 918 (JFM 48.0918.*)) haben gewisse Untersuchungen der kinetischen Gastheorie von \textit{Lorentz} (Archives Néerlandaises 10 (1905), 336) fortgeführt. Der Übergang von dem \textit{Lorentz}schen Ergebnissen zu denen des Verf. erfordert die Bestimmung des Grenzwertes eines Determinantenquotienten. Dieser Grenzübergang wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit durchgeführt und die Methode auf etwas allgemeinere Probleme angewendet. (VII 1. )
