Capacity bounds for a channel with synchronization errors (Q2639829)

This paper concerns the analysis of capacity bounds for q-ary symmetric memoryless channels with independent insertions, drop-outs and replacements of transmitted symbols. Lower capacity bounds for channels without insertions and for channels without drop-outs have been determined. Moreover, using the joint and conditional entropy and the average information content, upper capacity bounds for channels with only insertions or only drop-outs have also been found. The very high conformance of the theoretical results to the experimental ones has been demonstrated.
