A thermoelastic problem involving a temperature change in a homogeneous isotropic medium, and leading to the Cauchy problem for a system of two differential equations of parabolic and hyperbolic types, is considered. The theorem of existence and uniqueness of solutions is proved under conditions on the data close to the necessary conditions.
