The authors propose a preconditioning technique for 2 by 2 block indefinite linear systems, where the diagonal blocks \(A\) and \(C\) are symmetric matrices. The preconditioner also has a 2 by 2 block specific structure, with a nonzero \(C\) block. Results are proved concerning the spectrum and form of the eigenvectors of the preconditioned system.
