The paper is devoted to the nonsmooth optimization landscape of robust principal component analysis. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the absence of spurious local minima are presented. First-order optimality conditions formulated by means of the notion of a subdidderential are used and the subdifferential regularity of the objective function is also investigated.
