The authors estimate word length, up to quasi-isometry, in Richard Thompson's group \(F=F(2)\) and in all of the generalizations \(F(p)\) considered by \textit{K. Brown} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 44, 45-75 (1987; Zbl 0613.20033)]. Their estimates allow them to show that every \(F(p)\) admits a quasi-isometric embedding in every \(F(q)\).
