The authors consider the metrizability of a topological space \((X,\tau)\) in terms of conditions (they state 11 of these) on a function \(g: N\times X\to\tau\) such that \(x\in g(n,x)\) for \(n\in \mathbb{N}\). Certain conditions on \(g\) also characterize stratifiable and Lashnev spaces.
