The theory of real ramification (English)

This paper, which is written in Spanish, is an introduction to the theory of real ramification. The authors extend to real ramification the study of the extensions of valuations of a formally real field \(K\) to any formally real subextension \(F\) of some nonreal finite Galois extension \(L\) of \(K\) such that the degree of \(F\) over \(K\) is 2. Many results in this theory follow from properties of classic ramification of the Galois extension \(L\) over \(K\) and from properties of extensions of orders to an algebraic extension. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe first example of this theory consists in real models of finite Galois coverings of the projective complete line; these are nothing other than ``pseudocoverings'' of the real projective line by real algebraic curves. Note that reference [AlVe] in the paper is Contemp. Math. 253 instead of 25 [Contemp. Math. 253, 1-17 (2000; Zbl 1047.12003)].NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0952.00066].
