The authoress compares the theorem as conceived in the two founders of the (full) calculus. In the case of Newton the chief forbear here is Isaac Barrow, who indeed had both theorems though not in connection with each other; and also Pierre de Fermat. For Leibniz the main predecessor is Bonaventura Cavalieri. Note is also taken of the statements of the theorem for particular functions such as \(x^m\). In addition to citing the published literature by Leibniz and others, she refers also to various manuscripts, published and unpublished, which are cited as well as the printed sources.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0954.00008].
