Multivariate matrix factorization for multiband filter banks, wavelets and other \(n\)-D problems (English)

The main purpose of the paper is to survey the currently existing possibilities and limitations of recent results in the area of multivariate polynomial matrix factorization for the design of multidimensional filter banks. The author investigates algorithmic algebra techniques used to actually construct multidimensional multiband filter banks that incorporate constraints of perfect reconstruction and linear phase. The status of the design problem for biorthogonal multidimensional filter banks is examined, and applications of the multivariate polynomial matrix factorization are pointed out.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0952.00062].
