The present paper is an overview of the history of greek mathematics from its origin. It is based on the \textit{Dictionary of Scientific Biography} (C. C. Gillespie ed., 1970-1981) (1991; Zbl 0965.00003), the works of Yushkevich, Heath and other such secondary sources. It aims at a public having no access to other sources.
