The ``Cartelli di matematica disfida''. The controversy between Nicolò Tartaglia and Ludovico Ferrari (English)

The history of science knows of numerous disputes of plagiarism. Mathematics is no exception. One of the most famous is the dispute between Leibniz and Newton. One of the most spectacular is the dispute between Cardano and Tartaglia concerning the solution of cubic equations which emerged in a duel between Tartaglia and Ferrari who was a student of Cardano. The correpondence of both was published in the so-called Cartelli, therefore it is very well documented.
