The author considers cosmological models in which the standard assumption used in closed Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) models, namely that compact spacelike 3-manifolds have the same cohomology structure type as the 3-sphere, is weakened. He presents a classification of such models based on characteristic classes of certain complex vector bundles over a complex projective line. One special case is related to the geometry of the Taub-NUT space.
