Deterministic and random fractals (English)

This nice expository article discusses deterministic and random fractals using the approach of scaling laws and scaling operators. In the first part of the paper, by using the Koch curve and measure as an example, the author gives an informal overview of fractals determined by iterated function systems. More mathematical framework is presented in the second part, where results on the existence, uniqueness and the Hausdorff dimension of deterministic and random fractal sets and measures are proven.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0954.00019].
