This theoretical paper is a continuation of a previous paper [\textit{S. Ding, Z. Liu}, J. Partial Differ. Equations 10, No.~2, 174-192 (1997; Zbl 0887.35022)]. The author derives the renormalized energy to further determine the location of vortices for the variational problem related to the superconducting thin films having variable thickness.
