Combinatorics and algebra: A medley of problems? A medley of techniques? (English)

This paper covers a wide range of concepts in combinatorics and presents various problems which come as a flash in the minds of researchers working in these topics while learning the subject initially and then when any serious researcher looks for their answers. The concepts include (real periodic) autocorrelation function, (binary periodic) autocorrelation function, two-level autocorrelation property, shift register, linear recurrence sequence, maximal length sequence, de Bruijn-Good sequence, difference set, ideal matrix, planar function, Menon difference sets, etc. The author has provided answers to some of the problems and try to probe the rest. In this process, the author states several conjectures. The reviewer likes the presentation of the ideas. The author has also provided possible application areas of some of the topics mentioned above.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0953.00031].
