This paper deals with a two stage numerical method for approximating the solution of NEWLINE\[NEWLINEu''= \begin{cases} f(x),\quad &a\leq x\leq c\\ g(x)u(x)+ f(x)+ r,\quad & c\leq x\leq d\\ f(x),\quad &d\leq x\leq b\end{cases}NEWLINE\]NEWLINE over the whole interval \(\langle a,b\rangle\) with the boundary conditions \(u(a)= \alpha_1\) and \(u(b)= \alpha_2\) and the continuity conditions of \(u\) and \(u'\) at \(c\) and \(d\). The presented method based on a finite difference scheme produces second-order approximations to the solution \(u(x)\). A comparison between the presented and other methods is demonstrated on an example.
