Approximate solutions of the Stokes problem are obtained by transforming the problem to an equivalent optimization problem. Identification as a distributed parameter control system permits the theory of measure to be used to approximate the velocity function as a piecewise constant. Then the pressure is approximated by a finite-difference method.
