The paper defines an adjoint system by introducing an affine nonlinear system. It obtains necessary and sufficient conditions for exact linearization of general nonlinear control systems by using the relations between the general nonlinear systems and its adjoint system on affine nonlinear systems. The proposed methods can be used to solve other problems of exact linearization for general nonlinear control system.
