This present paper deals with the main mathematical achievements of Dai Xu, a famous mathematician of the Qing Dynasty. Dai Xu (1805\(\sim\)1860), who was once named Bang Di, called himself Er shi or He shu, and came from Qiang Tang, Zhejiang province. During his lifetime he wrote many books, which involved classical literary, poetry, drawing, music, mechanical design and mathematics. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEHis mathematical works which had been published are Dui Shu Jian Fa (The Quick Method for Logarithm), Xu Dui Shu Jian Fa (Continuation of the Quick Method for Logarithm), Wai Qie Mi Lu (On the Outside of Determining Segment Areas), Jia Shu Ce Yuan (The Explanations of Logarithm-Trigonome Function), which were named Qiu Biao Jie Shu (Quick Method for Seeking Tables, nine vols.) together. The present paper obtains some new insights not found in the former results on Dai Xu's mathematical work.
