On plane arc-smooth structures (English)

The authors continue the study of planar curves, by showing that each planar arc-smooth curve admits an embedding in the plane, such that its arc-smooth structure can be extended to an arc-smooth structure of the whole plane. They use this auxiliary result to show that each planar arc-smooth curve is a retract of the hyperspace of its closed subsets. We should point out that by a result of Fugate, Gordh and Lum all these curves have to be dendroids.
