Stabilization of Bernoulli--Euler beams by means of a pointwise feedback force (Q2706148)

The authors study the energy decay of a Bernoulli--Euler beam which is subject to a pointwise feedback force. The uniform or nonuniform decay depends on the boundary conditions. In the case of nonuniform energy decay, explicit polynomial decay estimates for regular initial data are given. The decay estimates are derived from observability inequalities for the associated undamped problem by using some sharp trace regularity results.
