Optimal approximations of transport equations by particle and pseudoparticle methods (English)

This paper deals with a quasioptimal method based on appropriately choosing the initial weights. The authors prove the optimal estimate based on a convolution with a locally varying kernel. For a one-dimensional example the pseudo-particle strategy and a proof of its optimality are described. Finally, a pseudo-particle method (the discretization of the initial value and the interpolation process at time) with optimal error estimates is presented.
