A stepwise approach for the generalized eigenstructure assignment problem (English)

The numerical difficulties related to the solution of the generalized eigenstructure assignment problem for multi-input continuous time-invariant descriptor systems are discussed. A new stepwise approach to the solution of this problem is presented along with a description of the corresponding numerical algorithms. Two numerical examples are given that illustrate the advantages of the approach proposed over the straightforward algorithm that is commonly used for the solution of the generalized eigenstructure assignment problem.
