The authors recall how one gets a second cohomology group with non-Abelian coefficients from a resolution by pseudo-modules. They then describe what this has to do with group extensions, but they fail to discuss the connection with earlier work in any useful way. One would like to know if there is any advantage compared with the treatment one finds, for instance, in the textbook of \textit{K. S. Brown} [Cohomology of groups. Graduate Texts in Mathematics, 87 (1982; Zbl 0584.20036)].
